Contractors shift base due to bad goods shed

Goods get damaged in rain as they are kept in open in the absence of a proper shed. Lokmat

Contractors and companies handling goods at the shed bear losses to the tune of Rs 2 crore during the rainy season due to the faulty design of shed at the Aurangabad Railway Station.
The Goods Carriers' Association has chosen another railway station to load-unload goods due to unavailability of proper facilities at the city railway station.
Mohammed Aslam, president of Handling and Transport Contractors and Hundekari Association said despite paying a heavy amount for the services, the railway has failed to provide basic facilities as far as the goods shed is concerned. The shed is incomplete and not ready for proper services. Hence, contractors have to face losses of over Rs.10 lakh during the monsoon season.
Aslam said, "The shade was redeveloped 20 years ago. Some minor repairs were carried out recently. The contractors had demanded redevelopment of the goods shed in 2011, which started in 2014."news-LT
