Bamu plans to seek ISO certification


Very few universities and colleges across the State have obtained this certification. The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is recognised worldwide as the authority on quality management. Quality management is an important and useful organisational system for increasing institute's competitiveness by optimising processes with a particular focus on the stakeholders

The Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University administration is planning to go for the ISO certification. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) inspected the university in August 2013 and accorded 'Grade A' to Bamu in the last week of October. It has become important for the university to improve the service and facilities to all the stakeholders of higher education of the region. Thought it brought certain changes in the system after getting the grade, students and teachers, who are the main stakeholders, are not satisfied with the processes and administration.
With a view to expedite all kinds of process in the administration, the university is planning to go for the ISO certification. Bamu registrar Dr Dhanraj Mane told LT that they are mulling to seek the ISO certification for the academic and establishment departments, which are located in its main building.
