"Post of the president for All India Marathi Literary Meet is not of power but is of honour. I do not consider the process for electing president as 'election'. Election is merely a technical process. I have not prepared any manifesto for it. That I will serve my mother tongue forever is my only manifesto,'' said popular poet and candidate for the post of president for the proposed 87th All India Marathi Literary Meet to be held at Saswad Fa Mu Shinde.
He was interacting with the mediapersons at Pramod Mahajan Patrakar Bhavan after filing his nomination papers. Another candidate Sanjay Sonawani was in the city on Tuesday. While speaking to the media, Sonawani had demanded online system of voting. When asked about his view over the issue, Shinde said, "Elections can be held online. However, for now, it should be held through the normal procedure." Replying to the issue of literary meets being associated to some or the other disputes, Shinde said, "Disputes can be solved through discussions and deliberations. I will be open for dialogue in case of disputes. I have been the president of 21 different literary meets till now, where I always ensured a cordial dialogue." Other candidates should have withdrawn from the arena, said President of the first World Literary Meet Gangadhar Pantavne who was also present for the press meet.
