City resident Rohit Sadafal is awarded the Innovative Jockey award in the talent hunt competition organised by leading companies — Yahoo and Accenture — to hunt Indian talent. The competition was to present novel innovations to change the finance, retail and public sectors drastically. Rohit was one of the five winner of this competition.
The concept of Innovative Jockey is very popular abroad. Every year, this is awarded to the one who does something innovative in engineering or professional field. In all 51,000 Indian students registered for the competition out of which names of 4400 researches were submitted. The competition was in three categories; retail, finance and public sector. Out of 4400, top 10 in three categories got selected in which Rohit was one of the five awardees.
Rohit presented model everlasting developmental model in public sector and was the only one to choose this sector. There are heavy constructions in cities like Mumbai, Pune and Delhi. There is a large amount of waste produced. Many a times, it is not even recycled. Making pre-cast products from this waste was his innovation. Rohit has made a model which will benefit the rural areas and slum. Pre-cast products like paver blocks, columns can be made and used in slums and rural areas for building. Rohit was awarded as jury's choice award which included all Steve J obs' products. He has dedicated his award to APJ Abdul Kalam for he is inspired by him.
Rohit is a student of Government Engineering College. He worked for a year in Mumbai and then went to Delhi at Urban Development and Management Programme for M Tech. When in Aurangabad, he was socially very active. "Being social helped in understanding problems closely and benefitted my research. Lot of exposure helped me to deal with it. We are students for the lifetime. What we do other than our field, remains in the hearts of people and it always helps." said Rohit to youngsters.
