RTO flying squad confiscates 8 buses - Source LT

A flying squad of Regional Transport Office (RTO) caught 15 transport buses owned by private firms, plying without proper permits. Out of 15 such vehicles including 8 buses were confiscated and sent to RTO.
A flying squad has been formed to take action against vehicles which ply illegally. Checking the permits of vehicles was conducted and the vehicles which were found running illegally were fined.
Around 90 private buses on Pune-Aurangabad, Nagpur-Aurangabad routes and Akola-Pune via Aurangabad route carrying passengers more than limit were intercepted. 15 buses which were running without appropriate permits were stopped and were taken into custody by asking the passengers to leave the buses. 
Flying squad also inspected other heavy vehicles including large containers and trailers. Sixteen such overloaded vehicles which were carrying goods more than the permitted weights were caught and 9 of them were seized by giving custody of the vehicles to RTO. "Process of collecting fines and taxes from the owners of such vehicles is under way," deputy Road Transport Officer Rajendra Verma said. The inspection of the vehicles will continue, he added.
