Maharashtra State Revenue Employees Association is going to stage indefinite strike from August 16 against state government's indifference to their demands.
The association had submitted the outline of the agitation one month ago. In the first phase, they staged demonstrations on July 25 and 26 at the district headquarters. Later they worked four days sporting black ribbons and observed pen down agitation on July 31.
However, the government did not take note of their agitation. Thus, the association has decided to launch indefinite agitation from August 16.
Around 4,000 employees all clerks, senior clerks, promoted nayab tehsildars and drivers would participate in the agitation.
A meeting of the association was held in the presence of its state president Laxmikant Pacharne in Mumbai last Wednesday during which this decision was taken, said executive president of the association D M Deshpande. Divisional president Vishnu Lokhande, Shankar Burande, S N Joshi and B D Mhaske have appealed to all the employees to participate in the agitation.
