Meet on 'Women's role in Indian Music' - Source LT

A two-day national conference on 'Contribution of Women in Indian Music' will be hosted by Dr IB Pathak Women's College of Arts at Tapadia Natya Mandir from August 30.
Addressing a press conference, college principal Dr Rajkumari Gadkar said that noted singer Dr Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande (Mumbai) will inaugurate the event while chairman of Marathwada Legal and General Education Society (MLGES) adv R D Deshpande will preside. 
Prominent musician Dr Vikas Kashalkar will be the chief guest while MLGES secretary adv Umakant Patil will be the guest of honour. During the valedictory ceremony on August 31, vice chairman adv J K Vasadikar will preside while vice chancellor of Lucknow based-Bhatkhande Music Institute (Deemed University) Dr Shruti Sadolikar will be the chief guest. 
Joint secretary of the education society adv Dr Kalpalata Patil Bharaswadkar will be the guest of honour. Experts like Dr S Kasliwal (Delhi), Dr T Unnikrishnan (Khairagar), Dr Sheetal More (Pune), Dr Ravi Chaturvedi (Rajasthan), Parvati Dutta and others will guide the participants in the three sessions of the conference. 
Principal Dr Gadkar, head of the Music Department Dr Parag Choudhary, Prof Dilip Dodke and others have appealed to the students and teachers to attend the event.

  1. Contribution of Women in Indian Music is a subject that is worth discussion. Even though there are a lot of talented women singers in India, the number of women in other aspects of music are less. This is definitely not due to lack of talent.
