Anti-ragging committee at Govt Medical College - Source LT

An anti-ragging committee has been formed at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). A programme was held in which dean Dr K B Bhopale informed students about the ragging committee, during a welcome party organized for new students. Students come to college from different places. They are apprehensive of ragging. Hence, the GMCH has formed the Committee.
The Committee includes teachers and hostel warden. The members will keep watch on students at canteen, class rooms and hostel. They will pay surprise visits to girls and boys hostels at any time for next four to five months. One member will continue to stay in hostel.
Mobile numbers and names of committee members will be printed on banners and pasted at college canteen, washrooms, classrooms, hostel and administrative building soon. If anyone is caught ragging, strict action will be taken as per government rules. Many times, for a severe ragging, students is rusticated and also fined Rs 25,000, it was told to senior and junior students during the party.
