Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) administration has sent a proposal to the State Government seeking its nod for introducing superspeciality courses of DM/MCh at the GMCH. For this, college staff of 429 employees (269 of them new posts), including professors, associate professors, para-medical staff among others is needed according to Medical Council of India (MCI) guidelines.
According to sources, these courses have been introduced at government hospitals at Nagpur, Mumbai and Pune and approved by the MCI. They will be introduced at the GMCH after inspection by the MCI. It is hoped that multispeciality hospitals will produce trained doctors which will be of great help to common citizens.
There is a proposal to start supersepciality wards at chest, cardiology, trauma centre, nephrology, surgery, urology, NICU and anesthesia departments. The administration has sent a proposal to medical education and research department for the same.
