The new super speciality courses sanctioned are DM (Cardiology), DM (Nephrology), DM (Urology) and MCH Cardiothoracic.
Medical Council of India has given a nod for MGM Medical College and Hospital to start the super speciality courses in five subjects. MGM is the first medical college in the State after Mumbai to have received such permission, said chief executive officer Dr Pravin Pardeshi.
Addressing a Press conference here today, Dr Suryawanshi said that the MGM Medical College is already running a Plastic Surgery course (MCH) with the permission of the MCI. The new super speciality courses sanctioned are DM (Cardiology), DM (Nephrology), DM (Urology) and MCH Cardiothoracic. The college has received sanction to run the three years degree course in all the courses. MD degree holders can obtain admission for these courses. The intake capacity will be one student each.
Due to these courses, the number of super speciality doctors will increase in the city. Dean Dr S A Sami, Dr Manohar Kalbande, Dr S Annachhatre and others were present for the press conference.
