Shiv Sena-BJP alliance has reposed faith in sitting MLC Kishanchand Tanwani by nominating him for the Aurangabad-Jalna local self government constituency legislative council elections. Tanwani was elected in 2007 on the basis of the second preference votes he received. Sena has claimed that he would emerge victorious this time too. His candidature was announced by MP Chandrakant Khaire at a Press conference here today. Sena will plan its strategy only after the announcement of the Congress-NCP candidate.
MLC Tanwani, MLA Pradip Jaiswal, mayor Kala Ojha, district chief Ambadas Danve and other Sena leader were present.
Interestingly, not a single BJP leader was present for the press conference where MLC Tanwani's name was announced. BJP had not cooperated with Tanwani in 2007 due to which Sena contested against the BJP nominee during the graduates constituency polls.
When contacted, BJP leader Atul Save said, the decision to field Tanwani as SS-BJP candidate might have been taken at high command level but we have not received any order from the party. We will work together when the party high command officially informs us. BJP has nearly 50 votes in Aurangabad and Jalna.
AurangabadFirst had published a report dated July 22 stating that there were no challengers to Tanwani from within the party and that he was gunning for a second term.
