The new executive committee of the Rotary Club International and Aurangabad chapter for 2013-14 was sworn in at Sant Tukaram auditorium in Cidco, recently.
Prafull Mirajgaonkar took charge as Rotary Club Maharashtra president. Rotary International's former president Dr Kalyan Banerjee was present. The Club announced donation worth Rs 90.60 lakh (over 1.5 million dollars) for various social initiatives and Rs 11 lakh for Uttarakhand relief operations.
Rotary Club implements polio eradication drive at global level. The Club has also been on the forefront in undertaking several social initiatives from time to time. This committee will remain functional up to June 2014.
The event saw tributes being paid to those who lost their lives in the Uttarakhand deluge. Thereafter, Suraj Dumne took charge as Aurangabad's Rotary Club president while Satish Lonikar as secretary. The Club declared that it will undertake 11 new projects related to drinking water, health, women's education and empowerment and other issues all over the state.
A rally was taken out. The programme was organised by Rotary Club of Aurangabad. Sheela Mirajgaonkar, Sunil Bagul, Amit Vaidya, Rotary's office-bearers, members and citizens were present for the ceremony.
