Production of Pulsar begins at Waluj plant - Source LT

The two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto Ltd has started production of much in demand 'Pulsar' motorcycle in its Waluj Plant, recently. Various models of Bajaj two-wheelers are manufactured at Waluj, Chakan (Pune) and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand. Pulsar, one of the most popular brands in the premium segment, is manufactured at Chakan. However, the production of Pulsar has been started at Waluj factory due to the labour-related issues at Chakan.
BAL vice-president Kailas Jhanjhari said, the production of Pulsar began in the Aurangabad plant in the last week of June. Initially, 100 motorcycles were manufactured every day which has gradually increased to around 800 motorcycles. Every month, around 20,000 motorcycles are manufactured which is likely to increase to 30,000 in the coming days, he said.
Every month, the company sells around 80,000 units of Pulsar motorcycles. Apart from Pulsar, the other motorcycles manufactured at Waluj are Discover, Platina and Boxer (only export).
Bajaj manufactures around 3.5 lakh motorcycles every month out of which the maximum 1.5 lakh are manufactured at Aurangabad while one lakh at Pantnagar and 80,000 at Chakan, the sources said.
