Marathwada Janta Vikas Parishad and Solid Waste Management Institute of Maharashtra jointly organised a demonstration of the 'Organic Waste Converter' (OWC) machine at Hotel Rama International here on Tuesday.
The industrialists, builders and developers, hoteliers and others were present during the demonstration.
Waste management is a grave concern for all as it causes stinking and pose health related problems. OWC is a perfect solution to solid waste management as it not only de-stinks the garbage but also makes it usable as organic fertilizer, the experts opined.
In the second session of the programme, the demonstration of the OWC machine was organised for the mangal karyalaya owners and caterers, while demonstration of it for the municipal corporation officers and employees will be held on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, industrialist Ram Bhogale said, "If the corporation starts at least 10 waste management projects the entire city will be garbage free and there will be no need to implement the projects like Ramkey."
A Mumbai-based company has manufactured the OWC machine. The compost fertilizer manufactured through OWC is eco-friendly and does not contain any virus or carbon. This machine is available in the range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
ITC hotels chain use these machines, while Pune municipal corporation has also implemented a project to manufacture fertilizer from garbage through the OWC, the officials said.
