The first combined annual training camp for academic year 2013-14 was held at Cantonment, Aurangabad. 400 cadets of junior and senior division attended the camp which commenced on June 30 and terminates on July 9.
Cadets (Girls and Boys) from schools and colleges located at Latur, Beed, Ambajogai, Jalna, Vaijapur, Kannad, Sillod, Manmad, Nandgaon, Parli, Dharur, Parvaranagar, Kallam, Newasa, Dhule, Amalner, Nanded, Ahmedpur and Aurangabad have come to attend the camp.
The cadets were exposed to physical training which included games like kabaddi, kho-kho etc. The cadets were also put through rigorous obstacle training course. They were exposed to weapon training of various types and also made to fire from (Point) 22 rifles.
They were given exposure to map reading where they learnt to find their own position on the ground using a map, compass and such basic tools. Interesting subjects like field craft and battle craft were also covered. Subjects like life skills and personality development were introduced. Importance of afforestation, waste management, water and energy conservation was also emphasized through various lectures.
Guest speakers who addressed the cadets on various subjects included Dr M Farooqui, principal Maulana Azad College of Arts, Science and Commerce.
The cadets also participated in the tree plantation programme at Fruit Research Centre, Himayat Bagh under the guidance of Dr Sanjay Patil, scientist of the centre.
