Under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), the civic education department is holding a one-day camp to spread awareness about Right to Education (RTE) Act for school management committees (SMCs) of the granted and semi-granted schools in the city from today.
The training camp will be held on rotational basis from July 22 to 25 at nine centres - Jubilee Park, N-9 Cidco, N-7 Cidco, Mukundwadi, Bansilalnagar, Priyadarshininagar (Padegaon), Kiradpura, Begumpura and Baijipura.
According to the education officer, A M Shaikh, "Around 4,000 members of 355 SMCs have been invited for the one day camp. SMCs play a vital role in smooth functioning of the schools. Hence, through camp we will be apprising them about the RTE Act and the new policy set by the state government to enhance the educational standards."
The training is being imparted through 90 resource persons, who had been trained through a two-day camp held on July 16 and 17. There are 12 to 15 members in each SMC.
