n Media expose tarnishes civic body's image
Regular reports and eye-catching photographs exposing potholes on different roads of the city have tarnished the image of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Taking a serious note, standing committee chairman Narayan Kuche held an urgent meeting with top authorities in his cabin on Monday afternoon.
Many residents experience bumpy rides on city roads daily but civic administration has turned a nelson's eye to their problem. While talking to Lokmat Times, Narayan Kuche said that a deadline of 10 days has been given to the municipal authorities to fill the potholes on important roads. Corporator Mir Hidayat Ali, executive engineers S D Panzade and Syed Sikander Ali, ward engineers of all six ward offices were present. Kuche expressed his displeasure and directed them to take immediate steps and fill all the potholes on important roads.
The civic administration also discussed a provision of Rs 30 lakh made in the annual budget (2013-14) for repair and maintenance of the roads in the jurisdiction of every ward office.
On demand of Mir Hidayat Ali, Kuche directed civic authorities to repair and maintain the three roads leading to Idgah (Cantonment) during Ramzan Eid. Acting municipal commissioner Gokul Maware said that the road repair work would be reviewed tomorrow.
Currently the city engineer's post is lying vacant and nobody is keen to take the responsibility of the work. Executive engineer S D Panzhade is looking after 33 wards from B and C zones, Sikandar Ali is entrusted with the responsibility of 33 wards from E and F zones and Hemant Kolhe handles the responsibility of 33 wards from A and D zones.
