Revised criterion gives an opportunity - Source LT

A revised eligibility criterion of the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has given an opportunity to Biology, Biotechnology and technical subjects students for admission in engineering degree courses for the academic year 2013-14.
It may be noted here that earlier candidates who had passed HSC with subjects 'English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 45 marks (40 per cent for reserved category) were eligible for the admissions to the Engineering and Technology courses.
However, Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court recently in its interim orders directed the DTE to allow candidates to take admission on the basis of subjects anyone from Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational subject besides two compulsory subjects-Physics and Mathematics.
Following the court directives, the DTE issued orders for Application form Receipt Centres to accept online application form from the students on the basis of revised eligibility criteria. The DTE made it clear that except this revision, other criteria stand as they are in the admission brochure.
The interim court orders helped students who passed HSC with any one subjects from Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational subjects besides Physics and Mathematics subjects in applying for the engineering admission from June 13 to 15.
