The entire Marathwada and West Vidarbha region is likely to receive widespread rainfall on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th. A low pressure system from the Bay of Bengal is crossing into the East coast of India, and is heading for the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. Heavy rains in many places will be recorded specially in West Vidarbha and Marathwada. Akola region will also get medium to heavy rains next few days.
Aurangabad District will receive fairly good rainfall as a result of this low pressure system from the Bay.
This week's rainfall will further boost the already good and favourable rainfall amounts for the District. Rainfall as on 23rd June: Soegaon with 179 mms is the highest in the district. Other figures are: Sillod 155 mms, Kannad 138 mms, Phulambri 125 mms, Khuldabad 116 mms, Aurangabad City 115 mms, Gangapur 86 mms and the lowest at Paithan with 80 mms.
The figures are already in line with the normal June amounts, and this further rain expected next week will add to the surplus for June. There may be some "flowing " of runaway water from the upcoming rains. There is a slight possibility of the small seedlings getting washed away in certain regions. Outflow mini outlets to drain out the flow from the fields may be made and arranged. The rains will benefit the standing cotton crops as moisture will be sufficiently added to the soils now.
