Marathwada gets its share of 1 cr saplings - Source LT


The Marathwada region has got share of 1 crore sapling plantation out of 100 crore plantation drive of the State Government, said chief forest officer and deputy director general Pravin Shrivastava of Social Forestry Department, in a press meet today.
The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Zilla Parishad (ZP), Panchayat Samiti, Police department have demanded 12,24,000 saplings, while the remaining 88 lakh saplings remain with us. We can voluntarily do the tree plantation, but as we do not own the land so there is a question as to where the tree plantation could be done, he said.
In all 1,000 saplings will be distributed to each institution, schools, NGOs, sugar factories, alongwith compulsorily signing the surety of plantation, taking care of these saplings. 
Moreover, the department has appealed to spread the awareness of tree plantation. The saplings will be distributed to all the districts, said Shrivastava. During the press conference plantation officer P C Waghchure was also present.
