Patil said the civic body had assigned the task to the city-based Government Engineering College in 2010. "However, the institute could not prepare it on time. But this time we have already initiated the process and hope to complete the report by July 2013," Patil said, adding that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University is now preparing the ESR.
Meanwhile, regional officer in the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Pravin Joshi, on Tuesday said that preparation of the ESR was a mandatory requirement on the part of the municipal body as the ESR attempts to identify current and emerging environmental concerns. It also assists the civic body in drawing meaningful inferences about the status of the environment of the city.
