The education department of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will soon be presenting bicycles to 100 needy and deserving girls studying in 10th standard by spending Rs 3 lakh (Rs 3,000 per bicycle).
The department also has plans to install amusement items for students in 10 AMC schools by spending Rs 10 lakh. Proposals in this regard will be submitted before the the women and child welfare committee slated to be held tomorrow afternoon.
Bicycles will be presented to girls staying three kms away from their schools. The AMC runs high school classes from 8th-10th standard in its 12 schools, situated in different parts of the city.
The civic administration also hopes that the installation of amusement items will help children continue their education.
