The administration of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University is likely to implement new college affiliation format from the next year. The decision to revise the affiliation process was taken in the Academic Council meeting held on March 25. The university administration had appointed a one-member committee led by Management Council member Dr Shivaji Madan to look into the issue.
The committee has prepared the new format for affiliation. The university is seeking opinions and suggestions from the colleges about it by July 6. Once the new format is approved by the university, it will be implemented for the academic year 2014-15. Generally, the affiliation committee does not submit its report on time. As per the new format, the affiliation committee will have to submit report anyhow to the university administration by January 31 annually. The committee will have to give clear recommendations about withdrawal of affiliation rather than making vague comments. The colleges which were offered conditional affiliation last year, will have to fulfil their commitments failing which they will be de-recognised. The pattern of 500 marks (marks for different facilities colleges offer) while granting affiliation is the same.
