In order to provide facility to the commuters South Central Railway (SCR) has issued tenders for opening up juice / tea stalls at Aurangabad Railway Station.
Station manager A C Nikam said, "SCR is poised for development of passenger amenities at railway station premises. Approximately 7 juice / tea stalls will open up within two months at Aurangabad railway station."
In the recent budget passed in February, the railway ministry focused on increasing the revenue by providing passenger amenities. So, this was under the plans for all the Class-A railway stations. Chief commercial inspector K Shankar said, "For providing basic amenities to passengers SCR had issued the tender for the juice stalls at all the Class A stations. (Class A stations are those accumulating revenue between Rs 6 to 50 crores). This includes Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani and Nanded which will now cater to the public with the juice / tea stalls."
President of Marathwada Railway Vikas Samiti, Omprakash Verma said, "This is a positive sign for development. But, the railways must properly maintain cleanliness on platforms as passengers throw away the left out on the platforms and tracks itself after consumption."
