"People and government machinery should work together to make Aurangabad awake and secure," said Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjeev Dayal.
He was speaking during the inauguration of the CCTV Surveillance and Control Room, here on Friday.
In all, 15 police stations under the rural police headquarters have been interlinked through CCTV cameras and the control room to cover Cannaught Place, T V Centre and surrounding areas.
At present, 198 cameras have been installed in the city to keep a watch on anti-social elements.
Dayal further said, "The CCTV project has been initiated so that the people could get better service from the police department. This set up will help keep a strict vigil on the activities in the city. It will also help improve the police functioning. If the project succeeds here, it will be implemented in other districts too."
Special Inspector General of Police Ritesh Kumar, commissioner of police Sanjay Kumar and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ishu Sindhu made an introductory speech. Director general of police Sanjeev Dayal, commissioner of police Sanjay Kumar and DCP Arvind Chavryia during the inauguration of the CCTV Surveillance and Control Room on the commissionerate premises in Aurangabad on Friday.
