Municipal commissioner H S Kamble on Friday clarified that the contractor - Bajaj Company will be responsible if any untoward incident takes place due to heightened street lights installed at the Seven Hills flyover.
The AMC has fixed 60 LED lights. The heightened poles have been fixed in a steel bracket (box) of 1/2 inch thickness. The weight of each pole is around 50 kg.
Meanwhile, the experts fear that the base of bracket will start rusting if rainwater seeps through it. This would pose danger to pedestrians as well as vehicle-riders passing beneath the flyover. The alignment of poles is also due.
When the attention of civic chief was drawn towards the possible damage to the poles and danger to the citizens, he said, "The contractor had inspected the poles and he will be solely responsible for any sort of damage to the poles and the citizens as well."
