To press for various demands, the Chemist and Druggist Associations will go on nationwide strike on Friday (May 10).
The medicine retailers of the city will also participate in the strike. However, considering the appeal by the Food and Drugs Administration, the association has decided to keep 30 shops open in the city and 29 in the rural areas for emergency services.
The local FDA officers discussed the issue with the officials of the association and told them that the patients would face inconvenience due to the strike, hence, they appealed to the association to keep some shops in the city and rural areas open. Accordingly the association took the decision.
The FDA has also appealed to people to contact assistant commissioner V T Pavanikar, assistant commissioner M S Javanjal Patil, drug inspector Anjali Mitkar and Sujit Bhadke on 2331526, 13331268 for any assistance during emergency.
