JEE (Main) on April 7 - Source LT


Around 17,000 students will take the first- ever Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (JEE, Main) to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the city on April 7.
According to sources, the JEE (Main), which was replaced with the AIEEE, will be in both online and offline mode. The offline exam will be held on April 7, 2013, while the online exam on April 9, 22, 23 and 25.
The JEE (Main)-2013 will have one objective type question paper. This paper will consist of physics, chemistry and mathematics, to be completed over three hours.
The sources further said the entrance test is based on entire syllabus of mathematics, physics and chemistry, dividing the syllabus of each subject into appropriate number of units.
The sources declined to name the test centres in the city. Those candidates who wish to secure admission in the prestigious IITs will have to appear for the JEE (Advanced), later.
Updating HSC seat number necessary
Meanwhile, the CBSE has asked to all the registered candidates of JEE (Main)-2013 to submit and update their roll numbers of class 12th or qualifying examination before downloading the admit cards of JEE (Main)-2013 from its website (www.jeemain.nic.in.).
The CBSE says that many candidates committed mistakes while submitting their roll numbers. So, it decided to validate the information of class 12th or qualifying examination roll numbers of the examination of JEE (Main)-2013 for both modes of the test. An authentication sheet will also be given to candidate in the examination hall in which they have to verify the same. The candidates were advised to bring with them a copy of document on the day of their JEE (Main)-2013 and submit the same to the invigilator at the examination centre. 
What should candidate write on sheet?
l A candidate has to write roll no. of JEE (Main) on the copy of the document being submitted in support of class 12th and qualifying examination.
l Candidates, who qualified in class 12th or qualifying examination in 2011 or 2012, and have not opted for improvement of performance in 2013 should submit copy of their final marks-sheet of class 12th or qualifying examination of year 2011 or 2012. 
l Candidates, who qualified in class 12th or qualifying examination in 2011 or 2012, and have opted for improvement of performance in 2013 in all subjects should submit copy of their hall ticket for improvement of performance. 
l Candidates, who are appearing in class 12th or qualifying examination in 2013 should submit copy of their admit card for class 12th or qualifying examination 2013.
This is in addition to the candidates bringing their admit card for JEE (Main)- 2013.
