n Hyderabad team arriving in city as groundwork for LS polls begins
Though Lok Sabha elections are a year away, the Central Election Commission has already begun groundwork for them.
A team of engineers from Electronic Corporation of India Ltd, Hyderabad will soon arrive in the city to check all Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) here. On May 9 and 10, deputy returning officers of all districts will attend a training programme in New Delhi, sources said.
The term of the current Lok Sabha ends in April 2014. Talk of mid-term polls is also gaining ground. Though the poll dates are not yet fixed, the CEC has begun its work.
Currently, there are 10,000 EVMs in Aurangabad. Some of them were used for Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti polls. The data stored in these machines would be deleted. Engineers would also check whether the machines have any technical faults.
