763 schools in div meet RTE norms - Source LT

■ 11K schools come a cropper

As many as 763 schools within the jurisdiction of Aurangabad Division have fulfilled all the norms of the Right To Education Act after March 31.
The education for children in the age of 6 to 14 became a fundamental right with the notification of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act on April 1, 2010.
A three-year timeline was stipulated to ensure that all schools meet the infrastructure provisions as mandatory by the Act. The last date for submission of report about fulfilling the conditions of RTE was March 31, 2013.
The Central Government fixed ten parameters for the implementation of RTE including sports ground, toilets, ramp for physically challenged students, cabin for headmaster and kitchen shed.
According to sources, there are around 12,326 primary schools in Aurangabad division which comprises Jalna, Aurangabad, Parbhani Beed and Hingoli districts. However, only 763 schools fulfilled all the 10 conditions of RTE while 11,564 schools failed to meet the norms in the division.
There are many schools which have completed eight conditions out of total.
