Values declining due to globalisation: Lindley - Source LT

While lamenting the decline in human values, noted thinker from Harvard University (USA) Prof Mark Lindley said today's man has become more materialist due to the globalisation, and scientific research is hurling the world towards destruction.
He was speaking on 'Environmental Ecology' during a refresher course for teachers held at the Academic Staff College (ASC) of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) here on Tuesday.
ASC director Dr Mahendra Shirsath presided over it, while noted economist Prof H M Desarda, head of the Economics Department Dr S T Sangle, coordinator of the programme Dr Sanjay Salunke, Dr Ashok Pawar and assistant director of the ASC Dr Mohd Abdul Raffey were seated on the dais.
Prof Lindley further said people are becoming more materialist and forgetting the real meaning of life in the wake of globalisation. "There is a need to follow the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi for the development of rural areas, otherwise, globalisation will be a new disaster for human life," he maintained. Around 46 teachers participated in the course.
