Members of the Maharashtra Rajya Vij Tantrik Kamgar Sanghatna today demanded that class-III electrical engineers be promoted.
Demonstrating in front of the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL), they raised slogans like 'Hamaari Mange Poori Karo, Hum Sab Ek Hai.' Apart from the city, electrical engineers from Pune, Nashik, Amravati, Akola, Nanded, Latur, and Ahmednagar participated in the demonstration.
"In 2009, some 2,500 engineers were recruited in the open recruitment of class-IV employees. In January 2013, operators were promoted ignoring class-III electrical engineers," general secretary Syed Zahiruddin said while demanding that they should also be promoted.
Later, a delegation of the agitating employees submitted a memorandum to MSETCL chief engineer Rohidas Mhaske. Led by Nagorao Magar, the delegation was comprised of S R Gaikwad, Tarachand Kolhe and R P Thorat.
