Ph D candidates of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) will have to post their thesis online to avoid plagiarism.
Board for College and University Development director Dr M S Shingare said that as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) directives, all Ph D research students are directed to submit two copies of CDs while submitting their final synopsis/thesis. "One CD should be submitted to the central library of BAMU which would forward it to the UGC for uploading it in the shodhganga thesis repository of INFLIBNET (the PHD reference website). The other CD will go to Ph D section," he said.
According to the sources, the Ph D researchers were found plagiarising their research paper but the university had to award degrees to such candidates due to lack of proof. Thus, the UGC directed all universities of the country, including BAMU, to upload soft copy of the thesis on the INFLIBNET. These copies will then posted at 'Shodhganga', nationwide website. The UGC instructed the universities to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with INFLIBNET.
The INFLIBNET has also launched another website called Shodhgangotri which carries name of the research scholar and his guide, topic of research and the institution. The UGC has sent a letter to BCUD directors of all universities to initiate steps to upload Ph D thesis to INFLIBNET.
