City police moot DCP post for traffic - Source LT

The Aurangabad (city) police have forwarded a proposal for the post of a deputy commissioner of police (DCP) for traffic branch.
Presently, an ACP-level officer is heading the traffic branch of the city police. Keeping the increasing traffic in mind, the demand for a DCP-level officer has been prepared and sent to Mumbai. Apart from this post, one more post of an ACP for the upcoming Osmanpura division of the city police has been demanded.
"There are three divisions of the city police — Cantonment, City and Cidco — and are controlled by two zones, namely zone I and II. Three divisions divided into two zones is an uneven distribution and to make the same even, we are awaiting sanctioning of an ACP post," deputy commissioner of police (DCP, HQ) Somnath Gharge said.
He said the demand for Satara police station was met last year when home minister R R Patil inaugurated the 13th police station on March 20, 2012. "However, the proposals for five more police stations — at Airport, Vedantnagar, Daulatabad, Harsul and Ranjangaon — have been awaiting a clearance," the DCP told LT, hoping that these proposals will be cleared in the current year.
