City police enforce surprise Nakabandi - Source LT


The city police enforced sudden Nakabandi at 13 major points in the city between 5 pm and 6.30 pm. The exercise yielded penalty amount of Rs 1.26 lakh from 1,261 cases.
The deputy commissioner of police (DCP, HQ), Somnath Gharge, said that it is called as 'All out Nakabandi' during which all officers except the commissioner of police (CP) are out in the field. All major points of the city were selected for the exercise. They included Kranti Chowk, Mahaveer Chowk, Panchwati, Trimurthi Chowk, Chistiya Colony Chowk, Harsul T-point, Nagar Naka and others. Motorcycles with three riders, fancy number plates, without proper papers and cars with black films on their windshields were targetted.
The sudden move of the city police, for which nearly 1,500 policemen were on the streets, caused panic among citizens as they saw all major traffic points blocked with vehicles.
