25K get degrees during convocation - Source LT

The popularity of Dr Kalam can be judged with the fact almost all students craved to get degree from his hand. The university had announced that vice chancellor Dr Vijay Pandharipande would present degree certificates. However, Dr A P J Kalam had to stand up many a time to present Ph D degrees on the request of students.
Around 25,000 students of different graduate and postgraduate courses received degrees during the 53rd convocation day of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on Sunday. 
The progrmame was a super-duper in the history of the university due to presence of former President Dr A P J Kalam as chief guest.
Earlier, the procession of convocation led by Dr Kalam entered into the auditorium. Vice Chancellor Dr Vijay Pandharipande, registrar Dr Dhanraj Mane, controller of examinations Dr Ashok Chavan and deans of different faculty and members of Management Council were present. Dr Hameed Khan introduced the guest. 
Dr Vijay Pandharipande announced the opening of the ceremony, Ph Ds were conferred on around 270 candidates of ten faculties including Arts, Science, Social Science, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Education, Management Science, Fine Arts and Physical Education. Over 25,000 students collected degree certificates on Sunday from morning to evening. 
Joint director of Technical Education Mahesh Shivankar, joint director of Higher Education Dr Mohammed Fayyaz, Dr Ashok Mohekar, Dr Maharaj Kishan Sahib, BCUD director Dr M S Shinvare, Dr Geeta Patil, Dr Shaikh S S and others were also present. 
The programme got off one hour behind its schedule due to delayed landing of Dr Kalam's flight at Chikalthan Airport.
