The two-time corporator and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhagwan Devidas Ghadamode has been unanimously elected president of the city unit of the party for a period of three years.
The election meeting was held in the BJP city office in Osmanpura on Tuesday morning in the presence of Jalna MP Raosaheb Danve, former minister Haribhau Bagade, deputy mayor Sanjay Joshi and others.
At the outset, assistant presiding officer and former MLC Shrikant Joshi declared the election programme. Presiding officer Nagnath Nidawate conducted the electoral proceeding.
Five candidates - Bhagwan Ghadamode, Shirish Boralkar, Sanjay Kenekar, Vijay Salve and outgoing president Baswaraj Mangrule - filed nominations.
Half hour's break
The presiding officer announced a half an hour's break for withdrawing names, following which a series of parleys began. The group meetings continued for more than an hour during which unanimity was arrived at on Ghadamode's name. Nidawate made the formal announcement of his unopposed election after the election meeting proceeding resumed.
