Former President of India and missile man Dr A P J Kalam will attend the convocation ceremony of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on March 10. Addressing a Press conference here on Wednesday, registrar Dr Dhanraj Mane said that Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, usually referred to as Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, has given the consent to be the chief guest for the event. The convocation ceremony is generally held in January every year. However, it has not been held so far because the administration was waiting for the consent of Dr Kalam. The administration, especially vice chancellor Dr Vijay Pandharipande, was pursuing the matter. Incidentally, Dr Pandharipande has worked with Dr Kalam for some time. Dr Mane said that the Management Council approved the proposal of the convocation ceremony and invitation to Dr Kalam, who is a great scientist and has served as the 11th President of the country.
This is second visit of Dr Kalam to the city. On September 23, 2004, Dr Kalam, who was President of India then, met Mission Avishkar children during his first visit to the city.
