An Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) squad today sealed four mobile towers erected in Bhagyanagar (2), Nutan Colony and Sabzi Mandi (Paithan Gate) for tax recovery. The civic body had sealed 12 mobile towers last week to recover huge property tax dues. The companies were to clear Rs 6.5 lakh till March last. The action has been taken by assessor and collector of tax Shivaji Jhanjhan, ward officer S R Jarare and their team.
Ward A seals four shops
Meanwhile, the Ward A officers also sealed four shops from City Chowk, Shahgunj and Juna Bazaar areas to recover property tax dues above Rs 1 lakh. The action was taken by administrative officer Priyanka Kesarkar, tax inspector Yamin Ali Khan, Hasan Khan, M V Ali and others.
The officers faced public anger while sealing the shop in City Chowk as the owner objected to the tax levied on his small shop. An ice cream parlour near Mahatma Gandhi statue was sealed to recover Rs 1.46 lakh in dues since 1980s.
The owner tried his best to pressurise and influence the AMC team to evade action, but to no effect. The AMC also sealed two dilapidated shops in its complex at Juna Bazaar.
