Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education has geared up for the HSC examinations that begin on February 21 at 319 centres of the Aurangabad divisional board. A meeting was held at the district collectorate in which the district administration and revenue department decided to adopt strict measures to avoid any untoward incident at the exam centres, said P B Chavan, education officer, zilla parishad. The HSC examination is going to start on February 21 while that of the SSC from March 2. The teachers association and private educational institutes owners had earlier called off their boycott of the examinations giving a great relief to the board and students. In the meeting at collectorate, discussions were held on how to curb untoward incidents and a vigilance committee meeting was also held. A total of 41,447 students of the 12th standard are going to appear for the examination at 112 centres and 60,592 students of 10th standard are going to take the exam at 182 centres in the district. Revenue department has been ordered to appoint sitting squads at all centres. Deputy collector, tehsildar and block development officer are going to visit all centres. There is also a ban on assembly of more than five in the 100 metre radius of all centres and Xerox centres have been asked to keep their shops closed during exam period. If any Xerox centre is found open, strict action will be taken against the owner. The administration is striving hard for conducting examination in a stress-free atmosphere, said Chavan.
