The health department administered pulse polio vaccination to as many as 1.45 lakh children in the city on Sunday. Rest of the children would be administered doses at their doorstep, said Dr Neeta Padalkar. Pulse polio vaccination drive was implemented under polio eradication programmme in the district. Under the drive, the children below 5 years of age were administered doses. There are a total of 1.77 lakh children in the city and as many as 524 booths were set up to give them doses. As many as 1500 employees were deputed on the task. The booths were also set up at bus stand, railway station, toll plaza, airport and malls. The drive was implemented from 8 am to 5 pm. Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) was appealing to the people through loudspeakers installed atop vehicles to bring their children below 5 to the booths. AMC had set up a booth at Prozone Mall where school education minister Rajendra Darda administered a dose to a child. Dr Neeta Padalkar and Dr Rathodkar were among those present.
